Arkansas Arts Center Offers Up Two Unique Art Holiday Shopping Opportunities this Weekend

The Arkansas Arts Center is going to give art lovers a jump on holiday shopping with their annual Museum School Sale and Collectors Show. Both go on this weekend and provides a good mix of local and national artisans for people on all budgets.

The Museum School sale focuses on local artists and runs this Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the State Fairgrounds’ Hall of Industry Center. The event features works from 100 local artists and includes pottery, jewelry, fused glass, paintings, woodwork, photography, drawings and pastels.

“The Museum School Sale is a great opportunity to support local artists while stocking up on unique holiday items or adding to your personal art collection,” said Arkansas Arts Center Executive Director Todd Herman. “We’re looking forward to hosting the Museum School Sale at the recently renovated Arkansas State Fairgrounds. The change of venue allows us more space to feature more artists.”

Admission is free. Cash and checks are accepted, and ATMs are available; some artists may accept credit cards. Arts Center members can also enjoy a free reception Friday night, November 13, from 6-9 p.m.

In addition to the Museum School Sale, the Arts Center’s annual Collectors Show and Sale begins Friday, November 13th, and runs through January 3rd.

The annual sale features curated works of art from around the New York City area that will be exhibited and are for sale at the Arts Center.

In September, more than a dozen members of the Collectors Group traveled to New York City with Arts Center curators and Executive Director Todd Herman. During the course of three very busy days, the group visited more than 20 galleries and viewed more than 1,000 works of art, ultimately narrowing the selection to the 150 or so works that appear in the exhibition. All works in the exhibition are for sale, with prices ranging below $1,000 up to $100,000. The exhibition contains a diverse selection of artwork in style and media, ranging from Old Masters to present art.

“We are thrilled to bring these galleries and the artists they represent to the Little Rock community,” said Brian Lang, chief curator and curator of contemporary craft. “The Collectors Show and Sale always contains a diverse selection of artwork in style and media by both well-recognized and emerging artists, ranging from Old Masters through the present, with just about something for everyone’s taste and budget.”

Arts Center members have the opportunity for an exclusive show of this exhibit and sale as well with the Collectors Show Brunch Saturday, November 14. From 9 to 11 a.m.
